Currently the US is struggling keeping illegal immigrants from coming across the Mexican border into America. One of the common cited issues is a lack of a consistent border wall to act as an obstacle for illegals from immediately crossing the border. But building a wall has been highly politicized. Especially, deciding how it will get funded. This is how you fix that problem.
- Fund the wall with private donations. Do you believe the wall is vital to national security? Would you be willing to donate a few bucks to fund it? Then let’s get private citizens and corporations to donate and build portions of the wall. This can even be incentivized through advertisements. Imagine you’re an immigration law firm. Donate to build a portion of the wall and in exchange you get to put up an advertisement on that portion that you donated. It’s brilliant! This means that taxpayers who don’t agree with a border wall are not on the hook for it. It also gives those who want to see it happen a way to directly intervene and provides for a public good (national security) to be funded without taxpayer dollars. Taking it a step further, it takes out those democrats who don’t want to see border protection from the equation as far as passing a funding bill.
- Build the wall with volunteer labor. Ever heard of Habitat for Humanity? They get volunteers to build and restore houses for the less fortunate. We can apply this same model to the border wall. Private citizens who want to see the wall built can donate their time to build portions of the wall. This can be organized by a single project lead, and people can sign up for time slots of a few days or weeks, to donate their time and build portions of the wall.
This gets the wall built for free! It improves national security, and let’s people who care about the project make a direct impact, all while costing the Federal Government zero dollars! It’s a win for everyone, expect people trying to circumvent federal law by illegally entering the country. It’s probably not a win for those people…
Love this article? Great! Let me know and I’ll produce more. Hate this article? Well, it’s probably ‘cause you hate border security. Why don’t you go ahead, respond, and let me know why I am wrong. Also, make sure to never lock your doors and let people in your residence at any and all times to ensure you are maintaining a stance that is logically consistent.
